Each penny auction starts at $0.01, and runs for the amount of time displayed on the auction clock. Each bid raises the price tag by one penny, hence the name "penny auction." Each bid also increases the time on the auction clock by a set amount.

If you place the last bid when the auction timer reaches zero, you win the auction and can buy the item at the final auction price!

SAMPLE PENNY AUCTION: You bid on a new iPad with an auction price of around $1. After some back-and-forth bidding between you and other BidCandy members, you manage to win the auction for a purchase price of $5. You can now buy the iPad for $5 + the amount you spent on bids, instead of the retail price of at least $499!

In order to participate in an auction, you must register on the BidCandy website and pay a participation fee in the form of "bids" which cost 60 cents per bid. The larger the bid package you purchase, the greater the number of "promotional bids" or "bonus bids" you will be awarded.

Joining BidCandy is easy, all you need to do is:

A bid is an "offer to purchase" made during the auction process; it indicates intent to purchase the item. The act of using a bid is called bidding, and is done by clicking the "Bid Now" button featured on each auction page.

Bids can be obtained primarily by purchasing bid packs. Bonus bids are awarded as prizes in various giveaways and promotions, and for completing certain actions on the website, and by participating in our community activities.

A bid pack is a package containing a set number of bids. Bids allow you to place offers to purchase items during the auction process.

There are a number of different bid packs available. The larger the bid pack you buy, the more paid bids and bonus bids you receive.

Paid bids and bonus bids have several different attributes in our penny auction bidding system. It's important that you understand the difference.

You acquire paid bids only when you purchase a bid pack. Paid bids are valid for a period of 365 days from the date of purchase. Paid bids may be used to place offers during auctions (to place a "bid"), and they have monetary value in two ways; you can request a refund of all unused paid bids in your account for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase and, when you use paid bids during any auction, the purchase price of the item being auctioned is reduced by the value of each paid bid you placed when you select to purchase the item through our "Buy-It-Now" program.

Bonus bids are awarded as promotional items in a number of different ways; you may receive them when you purchase a bid pack, you may be awarded them when you first register for an account, you may receive them during special promotions via our newsletter and various contests, you may win them at auction AND they may be awarded to you based on your bidding history. Bonus bids are valid for a period of 60 days from the date of issue and may be used to place bids during the auction process. In that sense, they work just like paid bids however, because they are promotional items, they have no monetary value. Refunds do not apply to bonus bids. Additionally, bonus bids placed at auction do no reduce the purchase price of items through our "Buy-It-Now" program. You are urged to use bonus bids as quickly as possible.

Both bid types are tracked through your BidCandy account page. Also, as an added benefit to our members, every time you purchase a bid pack, it resets the timer on the period of time that the bids remain valid. By way of example, if you purchase a Regular Size Bid Pack, you receive both paid bids and bonus bids. If, 30 days later, you purchase another bid pack with both bid types, all paid bids in your account will be reset to have a validity period of 365 days and all bonus bids in your account will be reset to a validity period of 60 days, calculated from the date of your last bid pack purchase.

After purchasing your bid pack, your member account will be credited with the advertised number of paid and bonus bids. Simply click the "Bid" button on the auction you're trying to win. If you are the last person to bid on the item, you win the right to purchase that item at the final auction price. The final auction price is the purchase price offered by the last bidder (the bid that is active when the auction clock expires).

When you click the "BID" button during any auction, you will place a single offer to purchase the item at the displayed price. A notification will appear momentarily to let you know that your bid was successful. If you're the current highest bidder, your username will appear just below the dollar amount displayed on the auction banner/page.

Many auctions are held simultaneously on the site and the terms of each auction, including the allotted bid time, may vary. More valuable items typically take longer to sell, while smaller-priced items tend to end in a much shorter time period. The more valuable the item being auctioned, the more competition it will typically receive.

While on the item auction page, click on the green "Buy Now" button located below the main auction area. The item auction page can be accessed by clicking on the picture of the item you are interested in. See below for more information on our "Buy-It-Now" feature.

No. Once you place a bid, it is final. It cannot be canceled or transferred to another auction. Used bids are not refundable.

Bidding ends when the auction timer ticks down to "GONE". The last person to make a bid is the winner of the auction, and can purchase the item at the displayed final auction price.

The auction clock tells you how much time is left on a particular auction. Watch this closely to increase your chances to win!

Time is added to auctions when a bid is placed to allow everyone an equal and fair chance to win the item. After the auction clock has ticked down below 30 seconds, it can never be raised past 30 seconds again. Each additional bid during this time will increase the amount of time on the clock by 15 seconds up to a maximum of 30 seconds total. This gives you more time to submit a counter bid, and ensures a fair and exciting auction for everyone!

Pro tip: You should stock up on bids in preparation for the final stretch of bidding. Make sure you have enough bids to be the last bidder standing! You can run out of bids during the final seconds of an auction and lose an item to a competitive bidder otherwise.

Yes.

Sniping refers to the practice of waiting until an auction is close to ending and quickly placing a last-second bid, thereby potentially winning the item. This does not work on Bidcandy. Every bid adds additional time to the auction clock (15 seconds) with each new bid during the final 30 seconds of an auction.

If the auction clock displays less than 30 seconds and multiple new bids are placed at the same exact moment, the system adjusts the amount of time added so that the auction clock never exceeds 30 seconds, ensuring a fun, fair bidding process.

Depending on your location and internet connection and browser, a few seconds of lag may occur.

Here are a few tips to reduce timer lag:

• Turn off unnecessary programs like virus scans, online video games, video and music streaming (YouTube, etc), downloads, and peer-to-peer sharing.
• Avoid using multiple tabs when web browsing. Continually updating e-mail and Facebook web pages might be triggering affecting your internet connection.
• Try to get a dedicated internet connection; sharing it could slow down the browser response and lead to timer lag.
• Upgrade to a faster internet connection.
• Make sure you always have the latest windows updates
• Make sure you always have the latest updates for your web browser
• Clear the cache file in your web browser

Once you have registered and are logged into the website, the Toolbar automatically appears at the top of the home page. It can be identified as a white menu bar featuring a number of icons. The Toolbar provides members with quick, easy access to the information and actions that are most useful and helpful. It allows members to:

Bid Wizard is a powerful tool that helps you automate the bidding process. You can use it on most auctions, and the link to set up a Bid Wizard is available on each item auction page. The bidding parameters you set for each instance of Bid Wizard are specific to that particular auction. You can use multiple Bid Wizards if you wish to engage in more than one auction at the same time.

You can view the stats of your Bid Wizard/s by clicking on My Account > Bid Wizards

Bid Wizard is best used to place bids in the following situations:

• When you are not at your keyboard
• When you are busy doing other things while at the keyboard
• When you don't feel like monitoring the auction continuously and having to manually place bids by clicking the bid button
• When you are absolutely determined to win an auction and do not want to risk losing do to a lag spike with your internet provider or your computer crashing and/or freezing up

The Bid Wizard allows you to set these bidding parameters:

• Minimum price to bid
• Maximum price to bid
• Maximum amount of bids you want to place on each auction

Click the "My Account" tab located on the top menu bar next to "Buy Bids". Once you are at the "My Account" page, you will see a list of options on the left side of the web page. Click on the fourth option down titled "My Bid Wizards". Doing so will display the current settings of all of your Bid Wizards, giving you the option to alter them as needed.

BidCandy's "Buy-it-Now" feature allows you to click on the Buy-It-Now button on the item auction page, located just below the main auction information display area, and purchase the item instantly at any time during the auction.

Yes! The paid bids you spend on the auction will be credited to your Buy-it-Now purchase. They will be credited as a discount on the item. You get the full cash value of each paid bid placed refunded in the form of a discount!

If the aggregate value of the total paid bids placed during the auction is equal to or more than the displayed value of the item, you will be credited in full when you select the Buy-it-Now option. You therefore will be able to purchase the item simply by paying the shipping and handling fees (these charges cannot be discounted).

The Buy-it-Now price is always displayed when a registered member is logged into their account and visits a particular item auction page. It is calculated automatically and displayed directly above the green Buy-it-Now button on the item auction page. Log in and visit the auction page to see the button.

If you do not see a Buy-it-Now price or button, it is likely that the Buy-it-Now option is not available for that particular auction. Different auctions can have different rules. Make sure you are aware of the rules of the auction you plan to bid on before placing a bid.

In addition to Bonus Bids, BidCandy.com awards VIP Bucks, Winners' Tokens and Shipping Tokens to members via promotions or as free bonuses attached to the purchase of certain bid packs.

BidCandy.com Free Bonus Awards expire 60 days from the date of issue. However, the expiry date is reset when new rewards of the same type are received.

e.g. Receiving new VIP Bucks will reset the expiry date on your old VIP Bucks by 60 days.

A Winners' Token is a virtual token that may be used to pay for the final price of an item won at auction. It cannot be sold or redeemed for cash. Each Winners' Token has a maximum redemption value of $25; if the final price is more than $25, you will be required to pay the balance, if the final price is less than $25, you may pay the final price of an auction in full by using one Winner's Token. Each token may be applied to only one transaction.

A Shipping Token is a virtual token that may be used to offset shipping costs; each token has a maximum value of $5. You may use multiple tokens on a transaction. Shipping tokens are not redeemable for cash, and they are fully consumed when applied (no "change" is given).
